Artwork? Yeah. You'd best be looking at Beta for artwork.
While I'm decent at it and Scratso is.... Scratso. Beta is most definitely the most talented in the field of art around here that I can think of.
Basically: Know who you should be looking at for things.

You can always pirate Fl studio, also without equipment you won't be able to do much with any program.
You can make something pretty nice without any equipment in fruity loops, I think you just drag a loop into a box and select when you want it to play.
Also this guy uses fruity loops

Funny I did try to write some simple midi music a long time ago... In my BlogSpot page when it loads up there should be a music playlist on the right hand bar. That's what I wrote a LONG time ago... I'm almost embarrassed, its the first time I've ever directed anyone to listen to my midi music!
