Some thoughts and ideas

I had just been thinking about incentives to get people to continue to play.
For example, one of the reasons I continue to play HearthStone, is because if you get to rank 20 each month you get a new card back, so I make sure play enough to do that each month.
It was a similar thing when I used to play Club Penguin, there was a free clothing item each week (I think), so I would make sure to login at least once a week to get it.
In short, getting new customization items for playing every so often, can keep people coming back.
I had been thinking a similar thing could work with 8bitmmo, by getting a special character customization item (hat, shirt etc.) each month for logging in so many days in a month or completing a specific task, (e.g. kill 3 people in PvP), or something else.
I'm not sure how possible adding in an new item every month would be, partly from a design point of view.
Then, I was thinking, the best thing about this game is the fact the world is 95%+ player made. So perhaps the bonus items could be player made as well, like having people submit designs each month, then having a poll to determine the best/most popular ones to be added (probably here on the forums) and Sim9/RobbyZ would have the final say, making sure nothing explicit/offensive/copyright infringing gets picked.
Again, I'm not sure exactly how doable this is, the number of active players on the forums may be a limiting factor and how much time and effort it may take.

I should perhaps have wrote this in the suggestion box instead of here, I only didn't because I thought I would get more feedback here and I figured I might be discussing multiple ideas and I was thinking of sharing my thoughts, as well as making a suggestion, if that makes any sense. Also, sorry if this has been discussed before.
