I think we should have one, but with a new idea. If you have played for say, over a year, you get a free portion of the new map all to yourself. A nation, if you will. You could put towns in it and let people be mayors (lords?) And you be the king of the nation.

Just my two pence to help keep players, well... playing.
I think as it's a nation you can set if people can build in your wilderness, and have full rights over said wilderness.
And, maybe, the king could have full power over his towns, mayor or not, BUT IS THE ONLY ONE ABLE TO PLACE THE TOWNSTONES! to prevent issues

Edit: got this idea from re-reading eragon.

I think this would be a system to reward old players. ^

Personally, I think it would be better to have a massive cleanup of the junk (as defined by the restrictions placed on the mods' "cleanup" ability) of =65 rather than opening up a whole new map because people don't go looking for an empty space and just complain that "The wilderness is full". As a side note, I can now check "Travel to =67" of my 8bit bucket list. I didn't know that that was where the tutorial area was.

I didn't even know there was a tutorial teleport until I went there to get the achievement.

i perfectly well knew that my stuff could be returned to my inv, but why did my sword disappear? and yes i would like an extra sword :)

The mods and sim did warn you not to build.
It's your own fault.
And I think it's because you did /sellallinv

I own several 2012 towns. Date founded is not a valid criteria for town removal -_-

i was referencing what Sage said in the other tread about people who havnt logged in since 2012,

i agree with this, the wilderness is no where near full, and if sim9 implements a town removal for 2012 towns, there will be even more room.

grim sounds like he needs help, i think this is an approptiate time to bring back the discussion about making a group of semi-mods to help police chat and cleanup the wilderness

"help police chat and cleanup the wilderness"
I thought that was a mod?

Or more accurately, reward yourself.
We know you have ulterior motives here, Scratso. No way you're suggesting this because you think the rest of us deserve it :P

Also, for the Self Elected Off-Topic Patrol, you're going off topic with remarkable regularity.

ulterior motives? No no no, totally didn't pluck that number from reasoning.

And patrols get boring. :P
There. Changed user title.
On the serious side, it really would keep players with something more to strive for.

I am not the only one that cleans junk in the wild however I am the one that does it the most. 95% of the cleaning is done by me. The world is vast and I don't have the time to go over the whole map let alone multiple. I don't even try to clean map66 and I'm pretty sure no one cleans potato server.  There is too much restriction on what we can remove. I have requested tools that would help speed up the cleaning but it still comes down to just me. Before anyone says there should be a system that does it... there is no way for the system to tell what is junk or not. It would have to be one of the most epic AI systems out there.

Sage Cleaning Co. is the other 5% I'm pretty sure lol. My main problem is exactly what you and Black_Jack mentioned: the restrictions. I get discouraged when I can only clean 1 out of every 30 junk piles I find...

Still doing the hand thing.

here is an idea, what if robbyz made a list of all accounts that havent logged in in a year, or only logged in the day they were made, and deleted all of those accounts and everything associated with them?

First: i think a new map would be good but will we still have our stuff? i would like to keep my riches and items plz

Second: if you do boime style do it so that there are more animals and not just game reviewers and lawyer cats roaming the wilderness

ps: (suggestion) and maybe add a system where we can do something other than a town like a house stone that marks the house so that people cant build on or in your house (so like a mini townstone but muc cheaper and possibly a bit more private ALSO: make chicken so other people cant steal it from your house via thier stomach

If ever you were looking for people to help with clean ups, I'd be delighted to help. I always loved walking around the world at random on 8 bit mmo. Specially if it means I can help back in some ways.

:beta: Providing you an unnecessary dose of nonsense anytime! :beta:

Here are my 2 cents...

Yes, I think we need a new map, not because there is no space left to build but because we need a map to handle all the newbs. (There is plenty of space, just go to the wildepad and you will find an empty spot or manually walk to the east side of =65 and you will find large unoccupied spaces. Not to mention that 90% of the =66 map is still empty).

There are 3 places where a newb can build: a town, their Pocket Universe or in the wilderness.

  • First, most newbs can't be bothered to ask citizenship and even if they do there is little chance an online mayor will accept them.
  • Then there is the Pocket Universe. I don't know if newbs build in their Pocket Universes a lot but I don't like it. A Pocket Universe doesn't feel like it's part of the world because it's a seperate area and other players can't visit it. And their use is very limited; only the owner can build in it so they can't invite friends to build with them.
  • And last, there is the wilderness. It is easily accessible, just use the wildepad and you will get teleported to a buildable area. I believe the majority of the newbs use this option. Though, the problem is that the wilderness is very cluttered and is a complete mess so it isn't really appealing to build in. On top of that, building random things in the wilderness does nothing but annoy the more experienced players who own towns there.

None of the options above are ideal so I think we will need a new map specifically for newbs to build in. I was thinking of a map with a lot of capital towns in them. Towns where everybody can build in just like Origin before root was added. Maybe those towns can have pre-made roads and/or plots. And those towns could be managed by mods to keep them clean. If a newb doesn't feel like building in a town they can also venture into the wilderness and find a good spot. Of course there should be mobs in the wilderness to make things more exciting.

Another issue with the wilderness is towns themselves. Often you might go build an epic luxury house and find it's removed later by someone building a town over it, or you want to add an awesome pool, but you can't because a town's claimed your home.

Meh. Nothing wrong with a new map. It's probably not needed, but nobody is going to say it's not a nice thing to have.

i think we should wait until the new map is released to see just how much space there is
