Breaking down the expansion costs.

1. 10 platinum= +16 regions.
2. 25 platinum= +24 regions.
3. 30 platinum= +32 regions
4. 60 platinum= +40 regions.
5. 130 platinum= +45 regions.
6. 200 platinum= (+50?) regions.
7. 300 platinum= (+? ) regions.
( I ran into this today, 10 platinum for 16 regions, as well as 20 platinum for 16 regions.)

Now to be fair the numbers may be a little off due to original placement and region locations. Since the max I believe is 200 regions, that list shows a total of 207 regions.

If someone can confirm that has paid for the 200 plat region if it is actually 50.

The max is 40x40 regions. which comes out to 400 square.

Today 6/29/2012 I just got +57 regions for 50 platinum.
never seen that amount of plat or region expansion.

7/1/2012 updating the list with the new expansion prices/ regions.
*note* This seems to affect towns that were around prior to the updating of the platinum/ gold amounts in June 2012.
10 platinum = 16 regions.
25 platinum = 38 regions.
30 platinum = 32 regions
50 platinum = 57 regions.

Waiting to confirm exactly how many regions 200 and 300 platinum gives.

Sometimes it may be difficult to plan out how your town will expand.

If it is close enough to another town you may gain more regions on the sides away from the closest town.

Ex.
town 1.
cccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc
ccccccc®®®®®®cccccccccccccccccccccc
ccccccc®|xxxxxxxxxxx|ccccccccccccccccccccc
ccccccc®|xxxxxxxxxxx|ccccccccccccccccccccc
ccccccc®|xxxxxxxxxxx|cccccc(town 2)cccccccc
ccccccc®|xxxxxxxxxxx|ccccccccc|xxxxxxx|ccccccc
cccccccccccccccccccccccccccc|xxxxxxx|ccccccc
ccccccccccccccccccccccccccc|xxxxxxx|ccccccc
ccccccccccccccccccccccccccc|xxxxxxx|ccccccc

the town 1 will more than likely gain regions marked with® when expanded, since the town 2 is close.

Eventually when both towns are expanded, their borders will touch, but one town will Never overlap and take over town 2's space.

I believed the town stone originally gives you about 48 squares height and width is that right?

Town stone = 48 x 48

1st expansion = (48 + 16) x (48 + 16) = 64 x 64?

Trying to plan something and how much space I'd really need to make it

Edit for Link: Does Bold help?

Is bold + violet easier to read Link? Also am I right in the actual squares calculations you get to build on?

I could already from a town how many squares they have to start off with which is 48 x 48.

But I'm not quite aware of what this "region" stuff is, tried reading a little bit on the wiki about regions and it just confused me more. Since it makes calculations according to coordinates and stuff but didn't quite give a good explanation of how many squares it comes down to which is what I really wanted to know.

Each region is 16 blocks x 16 blocks, with no height limit as far as I'm aware.  You were right in your count of 48 x 48 as the starting town area, which is 3x3 regions (which means you start out with 9 total regions). The first town expansion you do (adds 16 regions for a total of 25) will bring your town (in regions) to 5x5.  In blocks that's (5x16) x (5x16) = 80 x 80 blocks.

As far as the coordinates go, here's how you read those: 251, 63, 0 : -111, 109 = 65 (from /loc command)

The green numbers represent the position of the region that you are currently in, with 0,0 being the middle of the map.  -127, -127 is upper left of the map, and 127, 127 is the region in the bottom right.

The blue numbers represent your character's position within the region, with 1,1 being in the upper left of the region, and 256,256 being the bottom right.

The red number is your height, or Z-Axis.

= 65 is the map you're on.

I have a problem:

 i have 2 towns:

-castletown this one asks for 10plat for expansion

-castletown2 this one asks for 25 plat for expansion

castletown area is 48x48 which is correct for no expansion

castletown2 area is 64x64 which is wrong

castletown is 3x3 regions

castletown2 is 4x4 regions but it should be 5x5 regions

castletown2 lacks of 9 regions

which is a LOT comparing to the town actual area...

there 2 towns are the towns closest to the bottom right corner

both close to each other, like 20-40 blocks away i would guess

town coordinates:

CT : 128,0,0:118,124=65

CT2: 160,16,8:110,123=65

please check it and put it normal as it should

Ok thanks.

If its needed to reset town or whatever to fix this, you can do it dont need to ask permission(as long as it goes everything to inventory)

also between 3x3(no expansion) and 5x5 (1 expansion), yes i remember i brought one expansion( no one can prove it becouse i brought from KJH)

Only this day i decided to count the area and see the regions becouse of the region limit.

Maybe not this exact thread, but rather a more detailed stickied locked thread post including all the info about town stones that should be pinned... or a proper amount of info added to the wiki page cos damn there is so much info missing that I wish I knew BEFORE I started trying to use town stones!

- The size you initially get in squares, regions is no good when the explanations aren't quite simple enough

- How much space distance to be put between 1 town stone before you can place another town stone down...

- The center point of a town stone. The width might be 24 but the height isn't centred.

- Plus costs of upgrades and how many more squares you should effectively get per upgrade.

There is probably more info I'm forgetting about but I really wish I had all this kind of info from the start >=/

Its made town + dungeon building almost impossible to plan.

1. 10 platinum= +16 regions.
2. 25 platinum= +24 regions.
3. 30 platinum= +32 regions
4. 60 platinum= +40 regions.
5. 130 platinum= +45 regions.
6. 200 platinum= (+50?) regions.
7. 300 platinum= (+? ) regions.
( I ran into this today, 10 platinum for 16 regions, as well as 20 platinum for 16 regions.)
The last numbers don't make much sense. If you look at the first 4 expansions, your town gets 1 region bigger on every side with every expansion. If you assume the same goes for the latter expansions you would get:

0. townstone (3x3 regions) = +9 regions.
1.  10 plat (5x5 regions) = + 16 regions.
2.  25 plat (7x7 regions) = + 24 regions.
3.  30 plat (9x9 regions) = + 32 regions.
4.  60 plat (11x11 regions) = + 40 regions.
5. 130 plat (13x13 regions) = + 48 regions.
6. 200 plat (15x15 regions) = + 56 regions.
7. 300 plat (17x17 regions) = + 64 regions.

(notice how every expansion gives 8 more regions than the previous one)

The max is 40x40 regions. which comes out to 400 square.

How did you get this number? since nobody reported what comes after 300 plat. (Also 40x40 is 1600 square ;) )

Sometimes it may be difficult to plan out how your town will expand.

If it is close enough to another town you may gain more regions on the sides away from the closest town.

Ex.
town 1.
cccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc
ccccccc®®®®®®cccccccccccccccccccccc
ccccccc®|xxxxxxxxxxx|ccccccccccccccccccccc
ccccccc®|xxxxxxxxxxx|ccccccccccccccccccccc
ccccccc®|xxxxxxxxxxx|cccccc(town 2)cccccccc
ccccccc®|xxxxxxxxxxx|ccccccccc|xxxxxxx|ccccccc
cccccccccccccccccccccccccccc|xxxxxxx|ccccccc
ccccccccccccccccccccccccccc|xxxxxxx|ccccccc
ccccccccccccccccccccccccccc|xxxxxxx|ccccccc

the town 1 will more than likely gain regions marked with® when expanded, since the town 2 is close.

Eventually when both towns are expanded, their borders will touch, but one town will Never overlap and take over town 2's space.

Is there anyone who can actually confirm this? In other words: Is there any town where the region with the townstone is not in the exact middle of a town.
To me it looks like the same bug brunosilva5 reports where the expansion misses out on 2 sides of the town.

Town Stones are in the center, although there used to be a bug where sometimes regions would be missing from the town.  If you're missing regions, please open a support ticket with the region coords and a mod or myself can fix.

I have 2 towns which doesnt have the townstone in the exact middle :3

But they dont have lost regions. One is in a pocket universe and one is in the new world(=66)
