Off topic: Who is Gaben?

Turn off your computer and donate it to a fallen soldier of the master race.

On topic: Really? So it's really easy just to obtain this Cards?

I thought that you just had to have the game open.

WTF is WRONG with your brother!? Steam is a great place.

It has a lot of Indie style games, 8 bit included that are trying to play out NEW ideas that the big console games are too afraid to approach, such as camera views OTHER THAN 3rd person / 1st person! The games aren't scared to reapproach concepts that made great cult games back in the days of 2D consoles that haven't been properly revisited since they started making 3D games. Take streets of rage for instance, almost NOTHING like it has been made ever since, but these indie games you'd find on steam are beginning to revisit that.

Steam features cheap games, games that you don't have to pay £50 / $999 to buy and play nor did you have to buy a console more expensive than a PC just to get Steam since it's for free! It can have games as cheap as £3, I got Terraria on a 40% off deal and have played it more than I would have played a console game for!

You can also get some bits of software that aren't just games related and make friends through steam that you can share your game experiences with, I made friends with DrugCrazedRebel on there and talk sometimes about our normal lives outside of 8 bit mmo. I also picked up OpenCanvas' latest version on a deal and I use it a lot to draw now since I love Open Canvas for drawing my illustrations in.

Steam is just the thing we really need for the games industry to push itself higher than the big money games are capable of achieving. Unlike those console games that keep rehashing each others engines so it's like they didn't even make a game, half of them just took some one else's engine, stuck their own graphics over it, added in a story, then charged you the price for a full console game which is just ludicrous.

Just look at the success some games made from Steam. Mine craft did something. Team Fortress became pretty big too. Also the gaining access to great games still iterating in development like prison architect. Planetary annihilation developed by one of the best RTS minds out there (I mean srsly, anyone who played Total Annihilation will remembered Age of empires pales by comparison). Towns though struggling is trying to do something very different. And Terraria, which is making so much success that the developer never even needed to charge you for anything after you bought it yet he STILL keeps coming back to add new features to it! Let's not forget 8 bit mmo's contribution to Steam and how much being on Steam has helped get it noticed (like I probably wouldn't have noticed it's existence had it not been thanks to Steam).

TLDR : Steam is great, it promotes so much innovation, it's affordable, the truly most creative people live by it, and no one who knows ANYTHING about it can put it down.

:beta: Providing you an unnecessary dose of nonsense anytime! :beta:

Science and logic be damned, I stand up for artistic integrity, creation, imagination, innovation... and several other fruity words relative to the context of this message. Steam is the place for those things, while consoles have became a hubris abomination we call a "product", product over art is disgusting.

An analogy taken from music is like how pop stars are separated from making a legacy, while the artistic musicians are separated from making money. Because art is not a product. Products do make money, but they DON'T INSPIRE, ART inspires, and leaves a legacy and influence on those growing up, those who strive create some of the best things we can have today, were inspired by art. Not by a product! It applies to the game industry too, most of the most inspiring games out there, made very little success but are now becoming the source of influence for the most innovative developers today, while the product games are just focused on making money, they bring very little to the table for you to appreciate.
