Zooming out would be handy for small resolution screens, too. Or maybe I should expose some of the automapping image dump bot that I wrote for myself. Which reminds me, I still need to do another image dump

Yeah, it would be great to see how the world has changed since the last one.

If it was possible I would really like to see one per week, to be able to see the whole evolution of the landscape!

Or failing leveling up, how about a way to heal:?:

There should definitely be a way to heal, that's been on my list for far too long ;)

Leveling up, I will have to think carefully about. I don't want to have a situation where new players can't play with old players

Well, in the game Graal Online, when I played it over 10 years ago, they gave everyone the same amount of health (3 orbs). you would have to do really long and tedious quests to obtain more health (orbs), and the same was used for more powerful weapons and armor. the basic sword did 1/2 orb of damage (or 1, i don't actually remember). Because of the length of the quests (there weren't exactly walkthroughs for it, nor were the quest outlines very helpful), it was often not unusual to see new players with the same stats as veteran players.

I'm not suggesting you basically borrow Graal Online's system, just wanted to give you an idea of how you could set it up.

Also, is it just me, or is anyone else reminded of the old old PC game "Chip's Challenge?"

I wouldn't mind suggesting all sorts of things and possibly trying to do some promo work for you, I've got a lot of free time

Both Graal Online and Chip's Challenge is awesome! :D Some more advanced quests are on the TODO list, but not as high priority as some other things.

And yeah, tell your friends about 8bitmmo!

After the inevitable inclusion of body customization, I would love it if you could include hats. And, ya know, a mayor hat. For mayors. Please.

I am advertising away!
Also, as per the mention of healing, how about Classes? Like: Cleric, Ranger, Bard, Barbarian, Rogue, etc.

I'd be willing to type up an outline and work out possible skills if you're interested

I think map or coordinate system will be realy helpful. Maybe achivments. And for lvl up there no need to be rewards like more health or stuff (just a number is good enough). And more enemys, quests and shop content.

Darkseide, no offense, but if classes would be implemented I really hope they won't be the usual generic and boring ones found in all other games. Actually, I don't see the point of classes for their own sake. Bringing more numbers and generic contant into this simple and unique game will not make it better. Instead, I would like to see classes and/or skills that bring some actual gameplay elements into the game. This is much harder to do, but it's also the only way to keep the game as unique as its got potential to be.

If levels were implemented, my suggestion would be that you could choose one skill every once in a while (like every ten level or so, or when you achieve a very difficult quest). I really like the way the skills work in Binding of Isaac, where the skills improve your character and make it unique for each playthrough. Some other games, like Idatank for iOS, lets you choose one of three random skills each time you level up. In order for the skills to work like this you need a pool of skills big enough, but it's easy to add more skills as you go (they just need to be balanced properly) and it really make all the characters in the game unique.

If I would just try and think up some skills right away..

Building - Build at more than one space at a time
lvl 1 - build on 1 square (Granted at tutorial )
lvl 2 - build on 2*2 squares at once
lvl 3 - build on 3*3 squares at once
lvl 4 - build on 4*4 squares at once

Grassmaking - Turn normal grass into lightgreen grass
lvl 1 - combine 20 normal grass into one permanent grass
lvl 2 - combine 10 normal grass into one permanent grass
lvl 3 - combine 5 normal grass into one permanent grass
lvl 4 - make one normal grass into one permanent grass

Rot - Block will be destroyed after 24h unless the owner clicks it
lvl 1 - spend 2000 gold on destroying one block another player has placed
lvl 2 - spend 1500 gold on destroying one block another player has placed
lvl 3 - spend 1000 gold on destroying one block another player has placed
lvl 4 - spend 500 gold on destroying one block another player has placed

Moving - Ability to move another players block to another (free) space within range
lvl 1 - move one block one step for 1000 gold
lvl 2 - move one block up to two steps for 1000 gold
lvl 3 - move one block up to three steps for 1000 gold
lvl 4 - move one block up to four steps for 1000 gold

A few other skills I haven't outlined in detail.

Coloring - Ability to color blocks (cost decrease per lvl)
Hardneck - Extra HP (+2(?) per lvl)
Extend arms - Sword reaches further (a few pixels per lvl)
Speed - Run speed slightly increased
Invisibility - Turn invisible for other players (cost gold/seconds (lvl 1: 20 gold/second; lvl 4: 1 gold/sec)
Immateriality - Ability to walk through walls

There you go! Please note that these are all just suggestions from the top of my head, and I would much rather see new skills that bring more gameplay elements into the world. Maybe crafting?

Minicars would be great. They should be a size of a block and should go twice as fast as you walk/run.

EDIT: A chest or a bank where you can store your items would be great.

Yeah, I want to be able to support containers in future.

Vehicles too, depending on how feasible the speed is.

I don't like the idea of being able to fuck with other people's blocks.

Sounds like greifing tools.

We're not suggesting being able to fuck with other people's blocks, but there needs to be some way to remove blocks of inactive players. There's a lot of misplaced blocks clogging up the world, and finding a balance between placing and removing blocks should be possible. As it is right now, the inability to remove blocks make griefing by placing blocks a problem.

Please do NOT add levels. All the MMO games I quit because older players were just controlling the whole gameplay. I beg you.... I beg you.
Plus please do not add more features to the game. Maybe add transportation/ more objects.
