The forum post quality guide

Best Answer RobbyZ , 26 January 2016 - 11:19 AM

Seriously, the quality of many forum posts in the last few weeks is horrifying.  Think twice before posting something that's useless, derails the thread, or is needlessly hostile.

Since the quality of the posts on this site has decreased dramatically (wasn't my fault I swear), I made this guide on how to make better posts. Please link this guide if anyone disobeys these now-written rules.

#1:    Don't do shitposts. They are detrimental to a good discussion. Many people are notorious for making them, but I'm not naming any names except Pixelplayer2's.

#2:    Refrain from derailing threads. If people want to discuss ponies, nobody will give a crap about your triple Segway backflip you idiot.

#3:    Don't offend anybody! 8bitmmo has a very diverse playerbase ranging from American white men to European white boys. We will allow no Europhobia, adultism or misandry here! (Serious: 8bitmmo is an accessible game, so you are bound to meet many groups of people, so let's not be elitist).

#4:    Keep it civil! That time when you called noo a piece of fecal matter? He still feels bad about it! Seriously though, let's not treat everyone like garbage.

#5:    Don't necro threads unless it's necessary. The forums aren't a recycle bin.

#6:    Use proper formatting, spelling, grammar and punctuation. We're not talking about Oxford Commas here, but what we are talking about is ending your sentence with a period/full stop. Also, refrain from mixing up your/you're, it's/its, their/they're/there and to/too/two. See that little button between the eraser and the font selection? That's the BBcode button. It's basically a pimp your post quick menu. Of course, you can do the same by remembering the code used to do the same thing without the menu, but who wants to do that!?

#7: If your posts consists of 1-3 words which could also be stated by liking the post you're replying to, DON'T POST IT!

#8: Not everything needs its own separate thread. We have a posting general for that.

Extras: Speaking about likes: Liking your own post is pretty pretentious so don't do that.

I edited the post a bit to make it more serious. Can you consider pinning it?

If you want to make the post more serious, can you please take my "former" name out? It's still breaking rule 3.

Oh yeah, I might as well change that.
