You know your "Xerp sells it for gold" point is completely and 100% invalid right? You can't EVER rely on ANY player to always sell stuff. They are an unreliable source of items and are not in a discussion.
fine. but robbyz made it plat for a reason, i too think that it should be gold (for personal uses 
) but am not sure if it is the best for 8bitmmo.

yes exactly. so the people that WOULD use plat on a insecure box care about the game and want to keep robbyz alive

I'd like to request that boxes that have owner-only access be made to allow anyone the ability to be able to put stuff in them, but only the owner can take the items out. This way you can accept item donations/gifts/things-other-than-gold from players while you are offline. They can be stolen by anyone currently. There have been plenty of times where someone wanted to give me something and I wasn't around or vice-versa. It's an easy solution that I think would be pretty useful. Or simply add yet another type of box with these properties.
Yeah, I've been thinking about making a 'safebox' that would essentially work exactly like a safe, but be for items.

ahhh yes. when i first made my sotrage box post i thought about adding that as a suggestion but ruled it out.
