I'm having trouble starting up the game; whenever I try to start it up it says:

 

Error: Error communicating with Steam. Please try again later.

You may find additional information on the FAQ or at the forums. If you post a new thread asking for help, please include a link to your log.

 

I have parental controls on, but the password has been put in and it doesn't ask for it anymore. Please tell me how to fix it!

I had this problem yesterday, I shut down 8bitmmo, turned off Steam, turned Steam back on, hit play and it worked fine. If that doesn't work I'm not sure I can help you but someone else probably can.
Never trust anyone, even your own mother could sell you out.

Can you post your log?

 

Other people have had this problem because some Microsoft Parental Control tool was blocking the game.

Try playing the game off of Steam, you can play right from the website, or download it right to your computer.

It works, but only when it wants to. I press the launch either on my desktop or on steam and after about 100 tries, it works.

If you are running the Steam version, go to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam Apps\Common\8BitMMO

and run the .bat file

Close the game and delete your %appdata%/8BitMMO folder, when you next launch the game it will redownload.

Note that you will lose any texture packs you have installed.
