Tips, Tricks & Useful information

I noted down some information for myself that I found useful and I thought maybe you guys would appreciate it too.

Feel free to use this for the Wiki. And if you find mistakes or have some good tips yourself please tell me!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Regions ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • The whole 8BitMMO world is divided into smaller partitions called regions. Every region has it's own coordinates ranging from -127,-127 (upperleft corner) to 127,127 (lowerright corner) The most middle region of the map is 0,0 where Origin is located. The original map and the new map are the same size. Both maps are 255x255 regions which is a total of 65025 regions!
  • Every region is 16x16 blocks big which is 256 square.
  • Every region can hold up to 1000 blocks (there is a limit because otherwise the game would be too laggy)
  • It is possible to increase the limit of a region to 2000 blocks by using expansion blocks. There are blocks that increase the limit by 1000 and blocks that increase the limit by 250. You use them by placing them in the desired region you want to expand and press E on them to consume. Once used you cannot get it back, so be careful!
  • The max amount of mob spawners in a region is 2.
  • You can fill up to 3 layers of blocks in 1 region. 3 layers of 256: 3x256=768 blocks with 232 leftover blocks. This means  if you want to make a building that will span more than 1 region you will have to keep the region limit in mind. with a maximum of 3 layers you can have a building with 2 floors. (1 layer for ground floor, 1 layer for second floor, 1 layer for roof) Then you have 232 blocks left for walls and furniture.
  • Use Full blocks instead of 2 half blocks where possible to decrease the amount of blocks in a region.
  • A Pocket Universe without a town in it is 2x2 regions.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Respawns ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • Type /home or go to Menu > ''Respawn (Home)'' to get back to your homestone.
  • If you die in a town without pvp, a safe town or the wilderness you will respawn in root.
  • If you die in a town with pvp onpvp bounty or pvp dungeon you will respawn on a random respawnpad. Or the townstone if there is no respawnpad in the town.
  • If you die while standing on a homestone / respawnpad / townstone you will respawn in root. ( to prevent you from being respawnkilled or getting stuck on the same place because a player keeps killing you)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Towns ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here you can see the costs for the townstone and the expansions. When you place a townstone you start out with 3x3 regions which is 48x48 blocks. Every expansion gives you a ring of new regions around your town.
e8a82q.jpg
P = Cost in Platinum
T P = Total Platinum for whole town
R = Regions gained from the expansion
T R = Total regions from whole town
P/R = platinum per region: The cost for 1 region from that expansion
C P/R = Cumulative platinum per region: The cost for 1 region calculated from the expansion + all previous expansions and initial townstone cost.
Summary:
- A townstone that is expanded once gives the most regions per plat. With only 0.8 per region. Ofcourse you shouldn't spam the world with single expanded towns.
- Expanding a town up to the 3rd expansion is relatively cheap. All first expansions are about the same price. Plat per region wise.
- After the 3rd expansion, the expansions are getting more and more expensive with the 7th expansion costing 4.69 plat per region which is more than four times as expensive as the early expansions.
  • Once a region is claimed by a town it can never get claimed by another town if that town does an expansion.
  • If you expand while your town touches another town or the edge of the map you will lose out on regions. This will not get compensated with extra regions elsewhere!
  • You can place a townstone in your Pocket Universe. Once placed your Pocket Universe automatically becomes 3x3 regions. You can expand the town in your Pocket Universe just like a normal town and the size of the Pocket Universe will grow accordingly.
  • You can sell your town if it is in your Pocket Universe, but beware you will lose your Pocket Universe and you won't get a new one. You can still enter it but you can't build in it anymore unless the new mayor accepts you as a citizen.
  • Placing a 2-15 block 'shield' around your town/building project/quest's parameter (in the wilderness) is a good idea. This prevents other players building directly against/in-front-of/near your town wall, art, etc.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Trivia ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • The most expensive gold item in the shop is the Sea waves shirt for 25.000 gold.
  • The most expensive non-clothing gold item in the shop is the Mystery Box for 3750 gold.
  • The most expensive platinum item in the shop is the Ridiculously Fancy Gentleman's Suit for 172 platinum.
  • The most expensive non-clothing platinum item is the Expand Block (2K) for 15 platinum.
  • After l lit 1000 pumpkins, 104 of them exploded. So the explosion rate is probably 10%

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Miscellaneous ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • The distance between 2 reward blocks has to be at least 38 blocks. (To prevent the abuse of reward blocks)
  • You cannot activate items like telepads,signs,doors etc. if they are placed at Z-axis 1000 or above.
  • You cannot place blocks at Z-axis 10.000 or above.
  • Your character will become invisible if you are above Z-axis 10.000.
  • You can activate items from some distance. So keep this in mind if you don't want people to use your telepad from behind a wall or through the roof. Put at least 2 blocks between the item and the wall if you want to prevent players from activating your item through a wall. And put at least 5 blocks between the item and the floor to prevent players from activating your item through the floor.
 The red carpet on the pictures indicates the area where you can activate an item.
  • The region limit is 1000 blocks per region but if you want to build big structures you can place your structure on the intersection of 4 regions. Which gives you effectively 4000 blocks to build as long as you spread the building evenly across the 4 regions.
  • Players can break into your town/building project /quest by placing a homestone or a telepad at a high z-axis and diving in. So (especially in quests) consider this while making your design. For example put a roof over your quest or place the reward block inside a building. Or just simply make your town/building project/quest in a pocket universe so they won't be able to dive in at all.
  • You can build in the wilderness but keep in mind that someone can place a townstone near it and occupy your building. Once your building is in a town the mayor can remove it.
  • Most household goods have a different height than the standard half and full blocks. Half blocks have a height of 8 pixels and full blocks 16 pixels but household goods have varying heights from 1 pixels to 14 pixels. You can use the irregular heights of household goods to place blocks at non-traditional Z-axis levels. For example: (on z-axis: auto) placing three stools on top of each other, then removing the middle one and placing a regular block in between them. Then you remove the stools and replace them with regular blocks as well. This puts it at a different z-axis, which may be used for more complex designs in your building projects. Good items for this are stools because they are the half of a half block and Paper and Chicken Legs because they can practically put a block at any Z-axis level you want. All cheap items too.
  • Here is a list of the heights of all blocks and items:
26 pixels: Townstone
16 pixels:  All doors, Flowers, Ye Olde Cement Block, Full Dirt, Full Glass, Full Wood Block, Full Snow, Full Brick Block, Full Water, Full Sand
14 pixels: Fridge
13 pixels: Transponder
12 pixels: Sign
10 pixels: Old TV, Modern TV, Lavalamp, All eggs
9 pixels: Laptop
8 pixels: All other items not listed elsewhere including all weapons and all spawners.
5 pixels: Stereo
4 pixels: Stool, Soda, Coffee
3 pixels: Book, Die
2 pixels: Chicken Leg, Raw Meat
1 pixel: Paper, Floppy Disc
  • If you place pot flowers 1 block lower (-8 Z-axis) than the terrain the pots won't be visible and it will look like natural flowers.
The grass is at Z-axis 8 and the flowers are on Z-axis 0
I'd like to add:
 -Placing a 2-15 block 'shield' around your town/building project/quest's parameter (in the wilderness) is a good idea. This prevents other players building directly against/in-front-of/near your town wall, art, etc.
-Players can break into your town/building project/quest by placing a homestone at a high z-axis and diving in. So (especially in quests) consider this while making your design.
-You can use stools, chicken, etc. to change the z-axis of regular blocks. For example: (on z-axis: auto) placing three stools on top of each other, then removing the middle one and placing a regular block in between them. Then you remove the stools and replace them with regular blocks as well. This puts it at a different z-axis, which may be used for more complex designs in your building projects. Sim warns that you may lose your blocks by doing this.
Still doing the hand thing.
