Guide: How to play 8BitMMO with an Xbox 360 Controller
Hey there everyone, I just recently found out about 8BitMMO and like a lot of gamers, I do enjoy using a controller whenever possible.
If you have an Xbox 360 Controller and would like to use it with 8BitMMO this guide will help you do it.
1. Plug your Xbox 360 Controller into one of your USB ports and follow these instructions. http://support.xbox....-windows-906347
2. Download Xpadder for your operating system. http://xpadder.com/
3. Once you are in Xpadder, click on the little gamepad button that is in the upper left area of the program, and click open.
4. http://www.file-past...addercontroller Download this file and select it in the open dialog that pops up in Xpadder.
5. http://www.file-past....xpadderprofile Download this file and on the same bar that the little gamepad button is on, click the little document button and follow the same steps as above to load the file.
You are now ready to enjoy 8Bit goodness with an Xbox 360 controller. I've set the controls as such:
Left Joystick = Walking
Right Joystick = Mouse Movement
Left Trigger = Left Click
Right Trigger = Right Click
LB / RB = Gun / Sword
A = Gun / Sword
X = Pickup Item (Q)
B = Drop Active ®
Y = Talk to NPC / Read Sign

Now that you have Xpadder you can further customize the controller as much as you'd like, but make sure that you click inside of the game before you use your controller or it wont work. Happy gaming!

Added controller profile that was missing before, and added additional functionality

I've just updated this post with the other file needed to make this configuration work properly, as well as include more functionality to the control scheme. Happy gaming!

If there is strong demand for controller, I might play around with adding some basic (not full) controller support in the new engine.  I want to play around with running the game on my ouya once it arrives too ;)

FYI, I am planning to do a new videolog next week with the guys over at Evolution Controllers, who set up a custom controller config for 8BitMMO.

Or, instead of using xpadder, you could make the game detect automatically the controller pluged in so you wouldn't have to costumize evrything yourself.

*Edit* I don't know if you understand because I don't understand myself... but you get the point... xbox controller supported for the game...

The New Engine will be able to support controllers natively, as you describe

Bumping this thread because I did not know of this before - Do PS4 controllers work also? If so, how?

You do you.
